During the recordings for this concert in the Wyspianski Theatre in Poland, the Pär Lindh Project performed as a trio. William Kopecky (bass) and Svetlan Raket (drums) accompanied keyboardist Pär Lindh. In consequence, their sound moved in the direction of early ELP, especially because of the frequent use of the Hammond organ connected with the distinctive Leslie box. In the bombastic opener Night On Bare Mountain Pär Lindh switches incredibly easy from organ to synthesizers. In Mundus / Veni Vidi Vici Medley, we can enjoy swinging piano and swelling church organ. In the new composition Suite In Progress Lind plays spectacular synthesizer flights and a sensational part that reminds me of ELP’s Fanfare For The Common Man. The compelling Gradus Ad Parnassum shows swirling and gracious piano work, an exciting duet between piano and bass and a powerful drum solo by Svetlan Raket. The interplay between the three musicians is excellent, especially in Montagues & Capulet. In this piece, Pär Lindh succeeds in giving this classical music a new arrangement. During this concert, the chemistry between the musicians gradually becomes stronger. I noticed that Pär Lindh’s music on stage sounds more powerful than on the studio-albums. In two songs, bass player William Kopecky gets room for soloing in Baroque Impression. In my opinion, he does a good and very inventive job. I enjoyed the fuzz sound and the captivating interaction with sparkling piano work. This is a great keyboard driven DVD, not to be missed by any serious keyboard aficionado and ELP prog head. Therefore, I would like to end with the winged words: Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. Ladies and gentlemen: the Pär Lindh Project!
