Untold Stories is a Bulgarian rock band formed in 2022 by Daniel Eliseev - known for his solo project Daniel Eliseev Project - and War And Memories is their impressive debut release. This album is a blend of progressive rock with elements of prog metal, heavy prog, psychedelic rock, space rock and art rock, crafted into a very ingenious and melodic sound indeed.

Opening track Broken Light starts with futuristic electronic soundscapes galore, later on evolving into a heavy prog metal track with lots of unsettling guitar riffs and pounding drums; sometimes reminding me of my all-time favourite band Rush (Alex Lifeson-like guitar chords?) and even Dream Theatre. Follow up Fly Away is not that heavy, as it is more a rather addictive melodic rock/AOR song with a 100% catchy chorus indeed. Faces is a wonderful instrumental intermezzo, and the song almost feels like a jazz fusion track with lots of keyboards and Eliseev's heavy guitar riffing at the forefront. Bloody Moon, the final track of this impressive album stands out due to the glorious almost dark guitar solo and the inevitable keyboard-led bombastic finale. The title track, being the longest song of the album, shows the technical and intricate side of Untold Stories, which is second to none.

Overall, Wind And Memories is a MUST hear album for fans of heavy, melodic prog rock and please play it LOUD, if you can!

Listening tip: Fly Away.
