One again woodwind guru Theo Travis, well-known from his work with The Tangent, The Schizoid Band and his solo efforts, and drone master Dirk Serries, aka Fear Falls Burning, have joined forces. Well, that is not completely true, The Tonefloat Sessions have already been recorded way back in 2008 but are now released, both on cd and LP, and accompanied by a concert tour. I hope they will provide us with armchairs during the shows as I do not expect a lot of dancing during the performance. This is because drone master Serries likes his music slooooooooooooooooow, very sloooooooooooooooooow, and Travis’ flute fits quite well in this low tempo music. Two long ambient tracks flow on an almost tone flat manner (pun intended) though the ears of the listener who will levitate gradually but surely to higher spheres. After a mere 40 minutes this trip is already at its end, leaving the listener disoriented in a harsh world where the luxury of the slow (music) movement is not something many of us can afford.
