A song of 47 minutes long, what the hell is going on here on this Toehider album? The “band” Toehider, by the way only consists of one musician, being Mike Mills, who plays everything on the album I Have Little To No Memory Of These Memories.
Mills worked for three years on this album, and he describes it as a sonic journey through the last fifty years of prog rock and metal. Toehider's music is an overwhelming blend of folk-prog, space rock, retro prog rock, bombastic rock, heavy rock, prog metal, radio rock, rock opera and cinematic rock; so, there is a lot to digest indeed! For me, it is a bit too much of everything and I cannot really sit through the entire song in one take actually... I Have Little To No Memory Of These Memories, weird title, by the way, is an ambitious musical “monster” that is sad but true not the most satisfying and hard to swallow for me, as several middling musical passages do not really have a high musical level and make this song/album rather inconsistent.
Toehider's new album is an extravagant and somewhat overambitious undertaking, but if you are into a long epic prog rock “adventures” give it a try!
