Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving (TTOL) emerged from the shadows of the live scene in Perth, Western Australia with the release of their 2008 EP Tiny Fragments and in 2009 with the split EP with Sleep Makes Waves.
While their EPs attracted attention from reviewers and punters alike, it's as an intense and fiercely engaging live act that TTOL have built their reputation in Australia. Through touring on the east coast, dozens of local headline shows in Perth, and supporting touring acts such as 65daysofstatic, Boris, Russian Circles, Grails , Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, Karnivool, The Ocean, Sleepmakeswaves and Nadja, TToL have demanded attention and amassed a loyal following.
The EP Failed By Man And Machine was completely written, recorded and mixed between December 2012 and February 2013. By way of a piano-led amalgamation of prog, post-rock, jazz, noise, metal and classical film soundtracks, TTOL have crafted something of their own; sometimes intensely heavy, relentless and epic; at other times fragile and intricate. TTOL come up with a sound that isn't like any of the established masters of these areas; not Mogwai, Between The Buried And Me, The Mars Volta or any other of the host of post-hardcore; TTOL are original and impressive. The five tracks give you 18 minutes of well performed post-rock good enough to try it out.
