The German electronic rock band Tangerine Dream have always had a special place in my heart, although I cannot really explain why I like their music so much as it has nothing to do with prog rock or prog metal, whatsoever... Ricochet, a live album recorded in 1975, is an album that I still listen to at least once a year and I truly enjoy it. Le Parc was originally released in 1985 and it was their first album following their departure from Virgin Records. It's a concept album or you could also say a soundtrack; each song on this album has been inspired by major parks all over the world.

The tracks on Le Parc are shorter and more compact than usual on Tangerine Dream albums; the focus is on the mood generated by the cities that the parks are situated in. So, Central Park is up-tempo and danceable, Zen Garden sounds mysterious and rather peaceful and Yellowstone Park renders the American Indian spirituality. Edgar Froese, Chris Franke and Johannes Schmoelling got help from guest vocalists Katja Braune on Zen Garden and Clare Torry on Yellowstone Park. The latter is also known as the singer on Pink Floyd's The Great Gig In The Sky. The title track is rather well-known and is also featured as a bonus track. If you feel uptight or stressed just put this CD in your player and after 45 minutes you'll feel relaxed again. Play at maximum volume!
