Strange Land is a rock trio from the metal town Milwaukee and has been making music since 1998. Catharsis is their third album and the band sometimes sounds like a mix of Savatage, Queensryche and Fates Warning. The voice of bass player and vocalist Chad Novell is better than average and the guitar solos, melodies and riffs are outstanding.

Especially songs like: Asinine and Soul Made Still which are excellent prog rock/metal songs, the latter even reminding me of the notorious Galactic Cowboys. Highlight of this more than recommendable album is the final epic title track, which clocks in over 20 minutes.

Nothing new, nothing spectacular, but Strange Land offers a great prog rock/metal album, so check it out if you like bands that were mentioned in this review.
