Sleepmakeswaves - an interesting name by the way - hails from 'down under' and were founded in 2006. A year later they released a demo-EP and maybe due to the unexpected success of that demo, they later on released two more EPs.  ...And So We Destroyed Everything is their full-length debut album and the first single taken from that album called (Hello) Cloud Mountain, has got a lot of airplay on the Australian radio stations.

Sleepmakeswaves make instrumental music that could be best described as post rock; they sound a bit like a blend of underground bands as Mogwai or God Is An Astronaut. Their music is spacey, aggressive, moody and not easy to listen to, but if you give the album a couple of spins you'll hopefully get into the music. However, I must say that Sleepmakeswaves is a typical band you either love or hate; there seems to be nothing in between. The second single In Limbs And Joints is an Anathema-like track with dark musical elements, but also melodic parts while in A Gaze Blank And Pitiless As The Sun the band comes up with a trumpet and some spoken words as well. Most of the songs are really obscure, and so are the song titles, that is, in a good way. These songs are very difficult to describe, so my advice would be: listen to the album yourself as it truly contains innovative instrumental rock music. My listening tip would be the last epic title track, lasting over twelve minutes. Enjoy!
