Last year, RPWL celebrated the 20th anniversary of their wonderful album World Through My Eyes (newly remastered and remixed, revisited version was released last year, see review) and that was a perfect occasion for the World Through My Eyes Live tour.

The track list of World Through My Eyes LIVE of course featured the World Through My Eyes album in its entirety and lots of other gems of the best prog rock band Germany has ever had. RPWL only has two remaining founding members, Yogi Lang (vocals and keyboards), and Kalle Wallner (guitar), but these two wonderful musicians again provide the listeners of this amazing album with lots of goosebumps moments indeed.

Highlights, at least for me, are Sleep (impressive guitar melodies), World Through My Eyes (soaring David Gilmour-like solos and an addictive chorus), both from the anniversary album. Hole In The Sky, a track from RPWL's debut album God Has Failed (2000), is another milestone track as especially the guitar solo (hello Gilmour) of Kalle is second to none here; goosebumps all over the place again....

King Of The World from the Crime Scene (2023, see review) album features those wonderful melancholic vocals of Yogi, his keyboards solo in the veins of Manfred Mann and again a breath-taking solo by Kalle. From their ambitious concept album Beyond Man And Time (2012, see review) RPWL added Unchain The Earth and The Shadow to this formidable setlist.

Needless to say, that this is a must have album for RPWL fans, but also for fans of pure, melodic prog rock, and I almost forgot to mention that the sound and production of this live album is truly superb.

Listening tip: Hole In The Sky.
