RPWL's album World Through My Eyes is twenty years old and this classic RPWL gem is now released as a newly remixed and remastered version. Back in the days in 2005 I reviewed this amazing album by German prog rockers RPWL and when I listen to this "new" version I can honestly say that it is still an impressive album.

The eleven songs featured on World Through My Eyes are all easy accessible symphonic prog rock tracks in the veins of David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, especially Kalle Wallner's guitar solos are really Floydish/Gilmourish indeed, just listen to the heavenly guitar solo in the song 3 Lights and you will catch my drift for sure.

Sleep is the perfect opener for this album, featuring a Gilmour-like slide guitar passage, while a song like Everything Was Not Enough has some ELO and Beatles influences. Roses is of course the most familiar track of this album, as it was released as a single and RPWL still plays this song very often. Roses features Ray Wilson on vocals and for my part, this song is a bit too "poppy," too much singing and not enough diversity.

Sea-Nature is a cover of the notorious Steve Hillage, and this one stands out due to the amazing guitar solo. The title track, clocking in over ten minutes, is the highlight of this album; filled with Asian sitar sounds, beautiful, soaring guitar solos and a very melodic, addictive chorus, this one is second to none indeed.

I already knew that this was a great album, but listening to World Through My Eyes again made me realize that this is an essential album in the discography of German's best prog rock band. So, for those of you who do not have this album yet, buy it asap, as it is really a musical gem, especially if you like Floyd and Gilmour.

The album will be available as double vinyl and as CD/Blu-ray audio.

Listening tip: 3 Lights!
