Ricochet is a prog metal band hailing from Bamberg, Germany and Pieces Of Ricochet is their debut album. The band consists on this album of Thomas Amon (drums),Stefan Hinz (keys, piano), Bernhard Kie▀ling (bass),Claus Martin (vocals, keys),Peter Reck (guitars) and Markus Schley (vocals on Credo).
In almost sixty minutes you get six rather diverse, long, mostly complex tracks. Ricochet is obviously influenced by bands like Marillion, Pink Floyd, Genesis and even Dream Theater. Especially the longest songs like Fear, The Other Side and Transition feature lots of powerful prog metal elements, although the songs are always melodic and as a listener you can always discover something new. However I also have to say, sorry guys, that most of the melodies, riffs, hooks and solos sound rather familiar and sometimes even too predictable...
But, if you are a fan of one of the earlier mentioned bands then this album will definitely please you in a lot of ways. Listening tip: Transition, the longest, loudest and also the best track that Ricochet recorded for this album. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.
