Esoteric Recordings keep indefatigably going on with the exemplary releasing of obscure and somewhat lesser known records from the prehistory of rock: the late sixties and the early seventies. I call it exemplary because the liner notes are always informative, although music wise these reissues are sometimes a disappointment. This is the case with the only album of Quicksand, a Welsh band, who's only claim to fame is that one of the band members would move later on to the much better known band Man. Anyway, he was gone before Home Is Where I Belong was recorded. The first associations I got while listening to this re-release were bands like Quicksilver Messenger Services, Sutherland Brothers & Quiver and a bit of Crosby, Stills & Nash, but then less well-performed. However, I took notice of the tracks Overcome The Pattern, Flying, Seasons and Alpha Omega as these turned out to be well-composed psychedelic songs in which organ and distorted guitars have a field day. But I really doubt if this is enough for the average prog lover to buy this record.
