Volume 9 of Progressive Rock Side of Five Moons continues to expand this unique collection dedicated to underground Spanish progressive rock and related music, reaffirming 5 Moons' commitment to researching, rescuing, and disseminating little-known, unreleased, or hard-to-find material. This ninth installment presents a carefully curated selection of 10 more artists and groups from across Spain. The volume offers a balanced sonic journey, encompassing symphonic, psychedelic, electronic, and experimental works, reflecting the richness and diversity of progressive rock made in our country. True to the collection's philosophy, this volume is the result of intensive research, listening, and direct contact with the musicians, moving away from conventional compilations to offer exclusive content of great historical and musical value. Each track adds another piece to the map of Spanish progressive rock, solidifying the collection as a true work of musical archaeology. Volume 9 is an essential release for both collectors and fans who wish to continue discovering new gems of Spanish progressive rock, maintaining intact the spirit of passion, respect and pure feeling that defines 5 Lunas. Lots of variety on this pleasant Volume 9, my highlights. Howling wah-wah drenched guitar solo in Grateful Essence's Tale by Baule Eric. A wonderful Tangerine Dream inspired electronic music landscape with soaring keyboards, sequencers, tight drum beats and lush synthesizer flights in El Baile De Los Electrones by Bola Banda Electrónica. A mellow atmosphere featuring dreamy vocals and sultry saxophone in Apple Smell Colour by Fireplace. A typical 70s climate with soaring Hammond organ, dreamy vocals and wah wah guitar solo in Volver A Sentir by the know Spanish formation Bloque. A mellow climate with sensitive electric guitar runs, then a mid-tempo with rock guitar, and halfway dreamy with moving guitar, sparkling electric piano solo and jazzy bass in the varied From The Fields (live 1992) by Éxodo. Rock guitar and powerful female vocals in Diogens by Soma Planet. A cheerful mid-tempo featuring sensitive electric guitar, then gradually more lush with moving electric guitar and a propulsive rhythm-section in Repique by Xoldra. ***+ Erik Neuteboom (edited by Tracy van Os van den Abeelen) Where to buy? |
