Info: "A new album from Software? Not quite... Chip Meditation was one of Software's most successful IC albums in the 1980s. Peter Mergener was primarily responsible for the music at the time and is now celebrating the 40th anniversary of Chip Meditation 2025, a cult album that set new standards in the electronic music scene. Since the project cannot be continued under the name Software, Peter decided to release it as a solo album. Electronic music fans know that Peter Mergener was actually the musical force behind Software at the time. Music to dream to. That's what electronic music listeners associate with Chip Meditation." Well, as a huge fan of the Berlin School I am very pleased with this effort, evoking 70s and 80s Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze. The 8 tracks succeed to keep my attention and are very tastefully arranged featuring wonderful electronic music landscapes, between dreamy and more lush. My highlights. Chaos And Order. First dreamy and atmospheric, with spacey synthesizer flights, then sequencers and soaring strings join, and finally wonderful sequencing and sound effects. Top notch Tangerine Dream inspired electronic music. Synergetik. It starts with spacey sound effects, then the sequencing starts, topped with soaring strings, what a wonderful electronic music atmosphere, in the vein of late 70s Tangerine Dream. Attractor. A dreamy climate with soaring strings, gradually the sound turns into more lush featuring tender synthesizer flights, soft sequencing and a pulsating beat, joined by beautiful strings. In the end back to spacey. White Noise. Another very pleasant electronic music composition with strong echoes from Tangerine Dream but also Klaus Schulze. If you like 70s and 80s Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze I recommend this wonderful electronic music. **** Erik Neuteboom (edited by Tracy van Os van den Abeelen) Where to buy? |
