Les Nouveaux Mondes: 2022 Edition is a totally re-recorded version of French prog rockers Nemo's first album, which was originally released in 2002. Les Nouveaux Mondes features the band's classic line up, being Jean Baptiste Itier (drums), Lionel B Guichard (bass guitar), Guillaume Fontaine (keyboards, vocals) and JP Louveton (lead vocals, guitars).
Les Nouveaux Mondes is a concept album, and the music is prog rock at its best and the music of Nemo is a blend of neo prog and “old-fashioned” prog with musical elements and influences from bands like Ange, Discipline, Echolyn, Izz, Gong, Mike Oldfield and even King Crimson and Frank Zappa. Highlight here being the 20 minutes epic Phileas which shows all the musical diversity of this French band, such as lengthy complicated instrumental passages, heavy drama, and cinematic musical atmosphere galore. If you are an ardent fan of classic progressive rock music, then Les Nouveaux Mondes is a must have album indeed! For me, the only drawback of this marvellous album is the fact that the lyrics are French and of course, sad but true, also sung in French...
This new edition has two bonus tracks, Africa (instrumental one from their 1997 demo) and Bataille Navale, which is an unreleased song recorded during Nemo's first ever concert way back in 2002.
