English rock icons Magnum will release their final live album Live At KK's Steel Mill on 10 January 2025. This amazing album, with founder Tony Clarkin of course, was recorded on 10 December 2022 and it was a memorable night, as Magnum played the final show of their phenomenally successful European Tour. This is the last official live recording of Magnum starring guitarist/composer Tony Clarkin and that makes this album more than special indeed.
Magnum's Live At KK's Steel Mill features sixteen classic tracks, and it is indeed a worthy farewell to Tony Clarkin, a real musical bliss and a MUST have for Magnum fans and lovers of melodic English hard rock. The show/album kicks off with a 100% classic Magnum track, Days Of No Trust from their 1988 album Wings Of Heaven, one of my favourite Magnum albums ever; so a great start indeed, showcasing Magnum's musical expertise with lots of melody, a catchy refrain and splendid vocal work by Bob Catley. Other highlight on the first CD are two songs from The Monster Roars album (2022), being: the impressive title track and The Day After The Night Before, both being excellent compositions by Tony Clarkin of course. However, the best songs are yet to come as on the second CD Magnum play eight classic tracks that really make you realise how good this band actually is/was. Wild Swan, another fantastic song from Wings Of Heaven is the brilliant opening track of the second part of the show, followed by another Magnum milestone Les Morts Dansant from the 1985 released album On A Storyteller's Night. Magnum is in a musical zone now as the amazing setlist continues with All England's Eyes, Vigilante, and the title track of Magnum's debut album Kingdom Of Madness, released way back in 1976!! Finally, Magnum end their musical journey with a superb version of Sacred Hour from their fantastic album Chase The Dragon. Can it get any better than this? I do not think so, this is Magnum at their best, so a MUST buy indeed!!
Magnum's Live At KK's Steel Mill is truly one of the most emotional albums in Magnum's lengthy career; play it LOUD and sing along as much as you can!!!
