Flame Dream's third studio album Out In The Dark was originally released in 1981, but now forty-four years later it is re-released. Flame Dream is a Swiss progressive rock band, and this album is a must have album for fans of Genesis during the Peter Gabriel time. Out In The Dark features five tracks, three "short" ones and two longer tracks, of which four are lyrically based on poems of famous British writers and poets.

Full Moon, the opening track is based on a poem by Robert Graves and musically this track is rather funky with saxophone, reminding me of the fantastic Dutch band Alquin. Nocturnal Flight features piano and flute, while Out In The Dark, based on a poem by Edward Thomas, truly reminds me of good old Genesis, as Peter Wolf's voice really has that Gabriel timbre indeed.

The epic Strange Meeting, clocking in at over sixteen minutes ends this album and this musical rollercoaster has obvious influences from Kayak and again Genesis; especially part two, the instrumental Kaleidoscope is worthwhile listening to for sure.

So, if you do not know this band, then you can get familiar with their music by buying their signature third album, which by the way sets off Flame Dream's reissue programme, as they will re-release their first four albums on CD digipaks and maybe on vinyl.
