Fatal Vision, consisting of Simon Marwood (vocals), Juan Miguel Gomez Montant (guitars), Andrew Burns (bass guitar), Deniz Lim- Sersan (keyboards) and Alex Wickham (drums), hails from Canada and Three Times Lucky is their third album. Fatal Vision makes music in the veins of Bad English, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon and Loverboy, in other words, classic AOR/hard rock; and so as a listener you are treated to rocking guitar riffs, memorable melodies, great hooks and true catchy choruses that make you want to singalong to for sure. Time Of Our Lives kicks off this album, an upbeat track, almost anthemic, making this a very good and decent start of this album. Follow up Dangerous certainly has a classic AOR eighties feeling and stands out due to the impressive bass and drumming work. After these two great AOR/hard rock songs it is clear that Three Times Lucky is definitely not a progressive rock album. Other decent songs are: It's Not Over Till It's Over (strong vocal harmonies), Girl In My Dreams (with a nice bluesy touch), One Wild Night (packed with energy and a crunchy guitar riff), Thank You Very Much Goodnight (nice keyboards) and Endless Emotions, which is a 100% pure power ballad. Obviously, Fatal Vision did not really make an original album and furthermore they certainly did not re-create the musical wheel, but I think that this album will certainly appeal to lots of people who like AOR and melodic hard rock! Listening tip: Sting Of The Rain, play it LOUD! *** Martien Koolen (edited by Tracy van Os van den Abeelen) Where to buy? |
