Of course, the one time I need some biographic information to write this review, the record company doesn't send me anything along with this CD. The website of Central Unit is completely in Italian so that's useless for a reference as well. Therefore I'm in desperate need for someone to help me, for how in the world do you describe the music of Central Unit? Is it fusion prog or symfo jazz, maybe pop prog rock? I really don't know. What I do know is that I like this stuff, I like it a lot. The music can be characterized best as understated fusion, but always with a basis of prog rock with pop melodies on top of it. Bankful Of Money could have been made in the eighties when Pink Floyd' s saxophonist was visiting Italy to join in a jam with David Sylvian. Well, I don't know if he did, but it surely sounds like it. But as this track is almost nine minutes long, it's clear that it isn't just a short pop tune: there's development in this rather percussive track. Yes, I know, I know... all this scribbling of me doesn't really help to paint you a clear picture of the music. So my advice is: do yourself a favour, go on MySpace and listen to Central Unit and I promise you this band will start to occupy a central place in your heart.
