According to the info on the web site from Trail Records, this is the 5th album by Beyond-O-Matic however, browsing the Internet I found out they only made two albums, namely their debut album Time to Get Up released in 2010 and their latest one, Relations At The Borders Between. Beyond-O-Matic is a trio from San Francisco, consisting of Peter Fuhry (guitars, electric harp and vocals), Kurt 'Stenzo' Stenzel (synthesizers, delays and other effects) and Anthony Koutsos (cymbals and drums). Relations At The Borders Between was recorded during improvisation sessions in 2012. Some overdubs were added in 2012 and 2013.

Being mainly improvised, the music has some similarities with some of the early krautrock bands, like Amon Düül II, Ashra Temple and Agitation Free, but also with the desert rock of Kyuss. Finally I can also tell they have the same kind of guitar-driven soundscapes that are used by Six Organs Of Admittance. The two most outstanding tracks, Turn, Switch, Trust and But the Love, very much sound like the early Porcupine Tree (around the time of The Sky Moves Sideways): melancholic, mysterious, introspective, minimalistic and psychedelic. The album has a nice flow, with the exception of one track that ends rather abruptly. The artwork by the medieval painter Pieter Bruegel fits the music well. Highly recommended!
