Now nine years later, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead come up with their tenth studio album called X: The Godless Void And Other Stories. Well, the sound on this album is again fresh and exciting with lots of dynamics, melody and bombast, but you could also call this a light in its feet album consisting of 12 post hard-core alternative rock songs. The Opening Crescendo features voices, violins, guitar and piano and it is really a bombastic, orchestral intro of this album; while follow up All Who Wander is an up-tempo, groovy, hypnotizing track with a disturbed guitar solo and some modulated vocals. If you listen very carefully, you can hear musical influences from bands like Deftones, Perfect Circle, Talk Talk and even Killing Joke. My personal favs are Blade Of Wind (soaring chorus) and the title track, which is really aggressive with great riffing and raw vocals. Having said this I can conclude that Conrad Keely and Jason Reece did it again, so, an album not to be missed and play it LOUD indeed!!! **** Martien Koolen Where to buy?
