The Italian band Accordo Dei Contrari consist of Marco Marzo Maracas (electric and acoustic guitar), Danieli Piccinini (bass guitar), Cristian Franchi (drums) and Giovanni Parmeggiani (keyboards, piano). Special guest musicians on this third album, simply called AdC, are Vladimiro Cantaluppi (violin, viola), Marinia Scaramagli (cello) and Enrico Guerzoni (cello). The new album is a next attempt to compose original and experimental jazz-rock.

The six songs are all composed by Parmeggiani, with the exception of Tiglath which he wrote together with Maracas. Some of the songs have already been written during the production process of their second album Kublai (2011, see review). The music of Accordo Dei Contrari refers to bands like Area, Gentle Giant and Soft Machine, but they are also influenced by the famous Russian classic composer Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971). It's easy to determine that the recordings of AdC took only three days since the music is very vivid and powerful: surprising rhythm changes and time signatures, up-tempo piano and funky bass play. It's all there on several songs.

A good example of the general sound of Accordo Dei Contrari is Dua. The most varied and acoustic based song is Tiglath, a composition in which the piano, drums and electric guitar perform a kind of musical ballet. The final song with the extended and difficult title Piu Limpada E Chiara Di Ogni Impressione Vissuta, part III is a true masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. The violin and the acoustic guitar fight for priority in this song that evokes images of beautiful sceneries. It's a pity that this piece is way too short! If you like a kind of experimental jazz with modern rock influences than AdC is the right choice.
