It took a while, but finally British prog band
The Tirith played in
Holland. The Tirith were founded in the 70s and have somehow found
themselves transported by time into the 21st Century.
The band hail originally from Loughborough Leicestershire, where
they played as their previous incarnation "
Minas Tirith".
The reformed Tirith is a 3 piece.
Tim Cox (guitars) and
Dick Cory

(bass and vocals) started the band when they were in secondary
school,
Carl Nightingale (drums) joined later when the band got
together again after a long break.
All songs of The Tirith are written by Tim Cox and Dick Cory. They
don't care what you call it: Alternative Rock, Progressive Rock,
they make the music they like without any concessions to the
mainstream.
The old geezers did very well in 't Blok. They rocked their socks
off to give the, I must say small, audience a great time. As Dick
Cory said: "we played the longest gig in our entire career". And
the crowd loved it!
Dick Cory has a clear singing voice with a lot of expression,
playing bass guitar and bass pedals at the same time (who says men
can't multitask? Progmusicians can!). Tim Cox is a very
accomplished guitar player with a beautiful sound and great solo's

and sometimes switching to keyboards. Drummer Carl Nigthingale is
a powerhouse that keeps all together.
The gig started with
Farewell Fair Laurien. The band caught the
attention not letting it go for the next 8 songs. After a 20
minute break (it was very hot and band and audience needed this)
Dick and Tim played some more or less acoustic songs. Then the
power came back to play 8 more songs of their big back catalogue.
The Tirith is not a prog band with very long epics, but each song
flows into another in a great way. The setlist was a brilliant
example of how to build a concert. They finished with the
beautiful
. Of course the Tirith had to come back for an
encore: The Tower.
The band played for nearly three hours and were able to keep the
attentention from the first till the last minute.
Those who were not there, you missed something special!
